Governor Jared Polis introduced a 6-point initiative to Reimagine State Government in 2020. The Office of State Architect was charged with reducing the state's physical footprint by 1M square feet in five years. This work is to be accomplished by identifying underutilized assets as well as opportunities to use space differently, maximize efficiency and reduce costs without reducing the quality of service.
The initiative titled "Reimagine State Government," holds the potential for creating significant leasing and real estate savings while at the same time modernizing government in a way that the tech-entrepreneur-turned-public-official has longed to do.
